Hi my name's Verita, a 36 year old Pre School Teacher, I was married to a doctor for almost 6 years, unfortunately I signed a prenuptial agreement before we got married, our marriage ended because I couldn't take the abuse anymore, so I'm now divorced with nothing but medical bills which in the agreement I would be responsible for any bills that occurs in the marriage. I thought it was so unfair but there was nothing I could do because I agreed to it in the prenup, I thought he was my first and last marriage, and this is all happened in 2005. Anyways when I left my husband I had nowhere to go so I stayed at women's domestic violence shelter as I was trying to get back on my feet, I found a job as a Pre School Teacher and I am still working as a teacher as of today, and with little that I'm making I was able to get me a place to stay, and struggling to pay my utility bills it's just not enough for my medical bills from my marriage. Early 2006, my doctor told me that I had ovarian cancer, then I was scheduled for surgery in March 2006, I was out of work and being hopistalized for almost three months, but thank God that I was able to get paid sick leave, that helped me thru. I didn't go back to work 'til late May, couple months after I went back to work on August 6th, 2006 my dad passed away, I had no money for whatsoever to buy a ticket to go to my dad's funeral, because of my bad credits I was not able to make ant loan, so I borrowed from one of my friends, I made it home on the 9th, unfortunately on the 12th my mom died too of heartbroken; and this was couple days after I got home, I swear it was the most painful thing I've ever had in my life loosing my parents at once, then I had to borrow more money from my friend for my parents funeral, their funeral services was on the same date the 18th of August. I did my research afterwards to see if mom and dad had any money put away for me and my 16 year old sister, so that I can pay their bills at the hopital and the loan I made from my friend; unfortunately I found nothing but our home that still owes $4,100 to the bank, with both me and my 16 year old sister's names on it. I was; and still devasted not knowing where to turn, because now I'm taking care of my teenage sister, living paycheck to paycheck, I went looking for a second job, I worked two jobs from October thru January, which is when my doctor found out that my cancer came back, Early Feb 2007 I went back for second surgery, my doctor suggested that it was not a good idea to work two jobs due to my health, I had to quit my second job and apply for foodstamp just so that I can save some money on food and pay bills, another dead end I was not qualified because my income a month which is $1,500 is over the limit. I came to a discussion with my sister that if it gets to the point we cannot afford our rent anymore then we'll have to go homeless for while so that we can pay our bills first. Can someone please help me and my sister, I am only asking for a one time help. PLEASE.PLEASE.. I know my bills and loan put together is probably around $12,000.I desperately need your help and your prayers, because I am scared for my life and scared for my sister, who is going to take care of her if anything happens to me.
